LCD RECORDS

L.C.D. Records was established in 1998 when Ian Bland (Dream Frequency, Dancing Divas and Quake) and myself decided to setup a small independent record label to capitalise on the massive popularity of Trance. It was meant to be done for a laff, even the name of the label was a joke with L.C.D. standing…

Eastern Bloc Records

Eastern Bloc Records   I remember going into Afflecks Palace around 1986 or 87 hunting down some rare Soul & Funk singles on one of my digging days around Manchester when I stumbled across a little stall selling records. What I didn’t know at the time was that in a few years I’d be…

David Dunne’s pioneering and inspirational show was first broadcast in 1989 on Manchester’s “Key 103 Radio Station” to showcase the music and DJ’s that were exploding in the local House Music Scene. I went to St Joseph’s RC Primary School, Old Lane Little Hulton, Manchester. (Now knocked down) I went to St. Georges RC High School, Parsonage Drive, Walkden, Manchester. (Shut down 2014) I went to De La Salle Sixth Form College, Weaste Lane, Salford, Manchester. Where the late great Tony Wilson went too. I went to…

Charlie Brown’s Autocentre

In 1987/88 just as I was starting to get into DJing on the Manchester club circuit I worked as an assistant manager (more like lacky, tyre changer and car park sweeper. Haha!) at Charlie Browns Autocentre, 212 Worsley Road, Swinton, Manchester.

My original DJ Name

Not many people know, that when I started off as a DJ I had a totally different name!  I was actually called DJ SOULSKi.  Nipper was my nickname given to me growing up (why? is a different story) and everywhere I played everyone still referred to me as ‘Nipper’ and so it stuck!
